What We Look For
A photograph may match the theme, but that alone is not enough.
At Evi Mono Awards, we are looking for photographs with intention, emotion and a clear visual voice. We value originality, thoughtful storytelling and the creative use of monochrome over obvious or literal interpretations.
Strong submissions usually include
A clear connection to the theme.
A strong visual idea.
Emotional depth and authenticity.
Thoughtful composition and light.
A personal perspective.
Purposeful use of black and white.
Images are less likely to be selected if they are
Ordinary snapshots.
Family album photographs without a broader story.
Generic portraits with little visual intention.
Literal illustrations of the theme.
Images that rely on the caption to explain their meaning.
Weak in composition or technical quality.
Over-edited without a clear artistic purpose.
Before You Submit
Ask yourself:
Does the photograph clearly express the theme?
Would it still be meaningful without the caption?
Does it show something personal or original?
Is every element in the frame intentional?
Is this genuinely one of my strongest photographs?
Take your time before submitting. We encourage quality over quantity and look forward to discovering photographs that stay with the viewer long after they are first seen.
